Allan Brodie

It was with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Allan Brodie, one of Scotland’s truly great golfers.

Allan passed away at home on Tuesday aged 76.

Allan won many DGU honours including the Strokeplay Championship in 1975 & 1976 and the Matchplay in 1987. A member of Balmore, we were proud to have Allan as one of our Honorary Vice-Presidents and many enjoyed his company at our annual dinners. Allan represented Scotland in the Home Internationals, the European and World Amateur Team Championships throughout the 1970s, winning the Scottish Amateur in 1977 and earning selection for GB&I in the Walker Cup in 1977 and 1979.

Allan was able to attend the Walker Cup in St Andrews in September this year along with his wife Gillian and son Craig, spending some time with fellow local Walker Cup players Colin Dalgleish and David Carrick. It is such a shock that he is no longer with us.

Our condolences to Gillian and all the family.
