In view of the continuing crisis the DGU Executive has taken the decision to largely cancel all DGU organised competitions in 2020. The specifics are as follows:
STROKEPLAY EVENTS
The following events will be cancelled:
-
Spring Meeting at Douglas Park on the 2nd May
Summer Meeting at Vale of Leven on the 14th June
Autumn Meeting at Hayston on the 19th September.
CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Gents Championship at Douglas Park starting on the 2nd May has been postponed and we will look to re-schedule to later in the season once the situation becomes clearer. The Championship is now included in the World Amateur Golf Rankings so it would be especially disappointing if the winner of the Matchplay Championship could not pick up some points. However, there are more important things in our lives at the moment.
The Boys Championship is still scheduled for Lenzie starting on the 7th August and a decision on whether to go with this date or look for a date later in the year will be made nearer the time.
INTER-CLUB KNOCKOUT COMPETITIONS
The following competitions will be cancelled and any entry fees already paid will be refunded to the clubs.
-
Champion of Champions
Junior Champion of Champions
Seniors Championship
Handicap Championship
Fourball Championship
Inter-club team knockout
WEST OF SCOTLAND LEAGUE MATCHES
The Gents and Youths matches take place in September and October and it is currently planned to play these fixtures, with a final decision on whether this will be possible to be taken later in the year.
The Boys matches are due to take place between May and early September and although not cancelled as yet by the organising body, these are highly unlikely to take place. It is likely that a decision will be made towards the end of the summer to see if some form of competition for the Boys will be possible starting in August.
