Scottish Men’s Amateur Championship
Royal Aberdeen
A magnificent performance by Windyhill Club Champion George Duncan saw him progress to Saturday’s final where he will play Nairn’s Andrew Burgess who beat the favourite, World No 30 Connor Syme (Drumoig).
In this afternoon’s semi-final, against Elderslie’s Alasdair McDougall, George went 3 up at the 8th thanks to 2 birdies and an eagle but was brought back to be one down at the 16th. George then got it back to all square at the 17th and pars at 18 saw the match go to extra holes. The 19th was halved in par and a par 5 at the 595 yard 20th hole was enough to see George into the final.
George, who is home for the summer from Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee, will tee off at 8.30 am in the first round of the 36 hole final.
